nu:the science friction remixes
is a collection of short stories that is available for
download exclusively through this site. The stories are all
unpublished and are industrial remixes of horror that I wrote
when I first started in the small press in 1998/9.
I started to remix existing
horror stories when I began to develop the industrial
style after a year or so of writing pure horror fiction
and becoming frustrated by its limitations. I wrote
the stories that would become the contents of I-O and
sent them off to some publishers to consider. Whilst
I was waiting on a response on the collection I began
to go over existing stories that I had written and industrialise
them - adding new dimensions, altering plots, expanding
and contracting characters and refreshing the text. After I-O was
accepted for publication the nu stories
fell by the wayside as I came up with original stories
and moved on to other projects.d
so I ended up shelving them.
